Ready for Easter

I'm ready for Easter. :) I've been crocheting notalgic dress pot holders for all the women in the family, so I've been busy. But it was free, since they are made of left-over yarn. I think they turned out very well:

And here everything is wrapped and ready for giving Easter morning, where my mum hosts  the most wonderful Easter breakfast for all the family:

And I've painted my nails yellow with green glitter in the socalled Chevron pattern:
I am NEVER going to love yelow nails, but the green glitter helped a lot. The yellow polish is L'Oreal 302 and the green glitter is one of the Sinful  polishes I bought last year in the US, number 932, I really love it!

Wishing you all a lovely Easter. :)

Dad's Chevy

I think it is time for another car story, before we get too messed up in makeup and nail polish! ;)

I have previously told you the story about my mum's car, Frederik, and about the car she never got. But how about dad, what does he drive? Well, dad's everyday car is a Chevrolet Stepside from 1940:

There are only two of them in Denmark, so it is quite rare. Dad bought it as a half-finished project from a man who were going through divorce, so he had to sell some things. A lot of things had to be done. The previous owner had had it sandblasted, so it was lopsided, so dad had to straighten it up. What had been done was not done very good, so dad had to re-do it. It came with its original engine, a 4.2 litre, but it was too expensive feeding with gasoline, so dad put a Ferkins diesel engine in it instead. But the diesel engine could not drive the truck when dad had his homebuild RV on the truck body, so he later built a 4 litre Toyota Landcruiser engine in it instead. I think it is the original engine in this photo, but I am not a mechanic.

Dad has painted all his cars himself and is doing a great job, although he is very critical:
Don't ask me why he is painting half naked, it must have been a warm day. ;)

Dad has as usual changed some inappropriate things (in his opinion). A.o. he didn't think the rear-axle assembly was wide enough, so he has changed it to free cardan and built parts from a Toyota HJ60 Landcruiser into the original rear-axle assembly.

Here it is newly painted and ready to be assembled:

Dad drives it daily, he drives waste to the dumpsite and often with a trailer after it and he helps the neighbours driving their waste and garden waste in it too, so it is used a lot. Mum and dad drives on holidays in it, with the nice homebuilt RV on the truck body - but that's another story. One December dad drove Santa himself in a parade in their home town, then Santa stood on the truck body and waved at the crowd.

Here is DH dressed as an American framer from 1940 at one of our Conquer de Charme exhibitions at the Castle of Gavno:

My sister, who looks like a model, often borrows it and drives it to the dumpsite - can you imagine how they stare? :)

Record Cover Art

Last week I visited the Design Museum with Rasmine. We saw the exhibition "Record Covers - The Revival of the Vinyl", which I found really interesting. A lot of covers hung from the ceiling, sorted in subjects (the cover, not the music). There were subjects like black and white singers, men and women, groups, graphic, drawings, cartoons, nature, travelling, instruments, etc. etc. There were also a timeline at one of the walls and a lot of vintage record players - I fell in love with quite a few.

I could have spent a lot of time reading it all, but instead I bought this nice book about the exhibition:
There are photos of all the covers from the exhibition, so I can enjoy it for a long time.

The exhibition ended with new vinyl! I knew it existed, but not this one:
Madonna's Confessions on a Dancefloor, made of shocking pink vinyl (limited edition double LP). I have now bought it via eBay for 45 dollars for my vinyl collection.

Claw Set

I have bought a new ring:
It is kind of a replacement for another ring I've lost, this:

When we visited Wismar, I forgot my diamond ring, very strange. I don't have many diamond rings and of course I take good care of them, and the strange thing is that I have never forgotten anything at our holidays - not even a bobby pin. But it has been gone since we came home. The saphire ring was special to me since it was not very serious, it didn't look like a classic diamond ring, like petty-bourgeois claw set Princess rings or boring eternity rings. Both are not my taste.

I tried to find one like the flower ring I lost without any luck, and then decided that it would never be any good, since it would only remind me of the ring I've lost. I had got some money from my dad and decided that dad could give me a new ring. Several years ago I had wanted a ring with a raw gem, since I have read a lot of gemmology. I started googling and found the claw ring above, which matched my wish perfectly. It is designed by Bjørk, a Norwegian jewellery designer, who designs some really amazing jools.

So I think I have to change my mind about claw-settings. ;)
