CopyKate
When I visited Paris I fell completely in love with this fantastic clutch from Kate Spade:
A racing car clutch! But alas, it was way too expensive.
So I thought I might be able to make a "copy" myself. I had a metal box with a hinged lid, which Dear Hushand drilled a lot of tiny holes in the edge:
He dryly noticed that it is the strangest things I ask for.
First I made a paper pattern, before cutting the fabric:
The check patterned fabric is an eighties dress I would never (!) wear again:
Take care the pattern fits the checks before you cut.
I chose to sew the fabric to the box, therefore all the tiny holes:
And of course I sew with both black and white thread. You can also glue the fabric on, but I was afraid that it would neither look nice nor be durable.
The clutch also needs a lining inside. I chose green that matches my little car:
Again I have made paper pattern for lid and bottom. The sides are just a straight strip.
Here I have pressed tape that is sticky on both sides, which I have cut into small pieces and distributed evenly:
And done the same at the lid:
And here is the finished result:
Which I think is quite nice and usable.

My clutch holds my cell phone, lipstick, comb and a tiny purse. I decided to spray it thoroughly on the outside with silicone spray to avoid it being dirty.

Jewellery Glasses
I've got new glasses. Three pairs with reading field. I've always thought that you were old if you needed reading fields and when your dentist bills were expensive. My dentist bills are fortunately still payable. Hmm. I fell completely in love with these beauties from Louis Nielsen, which is more like a jool than glasses:
Look at these lovely side bars with rhinestones:
I could not resist the white mother of pearl side bars, and they even had a rhinestone at the end:
Perfect detail when I'm wearing an up-do.
There is even a rhinestone at the case:
The second pair was these nice titanium glasses in a dark copper colour:
They have a nice butterfly detail at the side bar:
The third pair is exactly like a pair I have had for year, but that were worn out. I love them because I almost can not feel I'm wearing them. But how is it to wear glasses with reading field? Fantastic! I love it, and I am already saving to have the lenses in my other glasses changed.

Nail Night 5.0
In the middle of August it was time for another nail night with me female colleagues. It has fortunately become a cosy tradition. And with my Partner in Crime it is easy to make nice nails on all of them in one night. We decided to do it a little different this time, with pre-made themes, which we had given names that were not easy to guess: Kiss Kermit, Niagara, FlowerPower, Ladybugs and Summer.
Previously, we have laid a lot of things on the table for inspiration, but since it takes such a long time for them to decide and since they are not that willing to try something new, we thought it was time for them to try something new. I had made stickers with the theme names and put them under the coasters, so we didn't know who got which theme. Here are the colours we used for all the manicures lined up on a tray:
Here I am making ladybugs (please ignore my double chin):
We talked and laughed and had such a cosy time - and some studied the process intensively:
We also talked about some serious subjects:
Hanne had some spare time, so she offered to help me. So she put SIXTY black rhinestones in my ladybug manicure:
When I got the idea of the black rhinestones, I didn't gave it a thought that it was SO many.
Here is Hanne making Niagara, which of course is the waterfall technic which she masters, in summery colours:
A happy ladybugmanicureowner (yep, it is a word):
Hanne's Niagara theme:
Hanne's FlowerPower theme:
My Kiss Kermit theme - green polish with dark green dots:
I loved it so much I made it on my own nails the next week.
And the ladybug theme with the 60 rhinestones:
Hanne and I met the day before to finetune the themes, find the polishes and tools we needed for the manicures and for once I got my nails done:
Hanne made newspaper nails on my nails, and I LOVED them all week. Thank you so much, dear. :)
And thanks for a really lovely night to all my great colleagues. We'll definately do it again.

ALT for Damerne, 1955, No. 36
I've scanned from ALT for Damerne (Everything for the Ladies), number 36, 1955 for you. It is the first magazine published in September 1955. Remember that all scans can be clicked into larger formats. Although it is a Danish magazine, I hope my foreign readers will have fun reading my small recaps and get inspiration from the photos.
What a lovely harvest cover:
Bettina wonders:
This time she wonders how difficult it is to have your hair washed (!) when travelling, and you don't know the hair dresser. She also have a story about a poor women who had a hair cut she didn't want due to language misunderstandings.
Speak to me before you hang yourself:
The Priest offer conversations if you are having a hard time:
Today, we consult a psychologist.
A nice little column about the same subject, Therefore, I live ...:
On to the big "Dressed from top to toe" competetion, which is also mentioned at the cover:
Wow, a leather (!) suitcase full of unthinkable luxuries for your wardrobe. Even a well packed train case from Elizabeth Arden is part of the prize.
And a set of gloves and an umbrella:
If you are not the lucky winner, you can sew yourself a lovely dress with the help from Pattern on Fabric:
Because we all want to be September-chic:
I would love to include the dress at the bottom right in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe.
This nice check patterned jacket-cardigan is also nice to have at Winter:
It is so nice that I didn't know it was knitted until I saw the pattern:
Some beauty tips - The finishing touch:
On to the ads - here is a really elegant suit, which is hard to wear out and don't creases:
The most enchanting night gown I've ever had, she says to her friend on the phone:
The best skirts of England:
Elida Gold-shampoo, only one wash is enough.
Indraflex stockings with stretch:
RED: Every day stockings
GREEN: Walking stockings - I didn't know they existed
PURPLE: Party stockings
Panties and girdle in one:
Note that it is panties and not briefs.
Sabrina, brush and comb in one:
And beautiful earrings for beautiful ears.
Stewed apples taste twice as good ... with Corn Flakes from OTA:
With the modern air tight inner bag of waxed paper.
Fresh like spring water with Pond's cream:
And you say thank you to the hostess with flowers. Fortunately, we still do.
With Emaille you roast and serve in the same dish:
So the food is warm and you spare the dishes.

A nice little column about the same subject, Therefore, I live ...:
A mother and a nurse tell why they think life is worth living. It is fun to read that back then the mom also thought the world was very materialistic.
In the binocular, that takes up very different things:
This time a handy teenage girl has made an old chair into both a stool and a mirror for her vanity table (back then it was a must to have a vanity table, and I would not do without mine too). There is a tip on how to modernize your old-fashioned candle holders with black paint and there is a nice home made sign saying "we are in the garden". You can buy those premade today. On to the big "Dressed from top to toe" competetion, which is also mentioned at the cover:
