Dad's Messerschmidt

It has been long since I last wrote a car story. Previously I've wrote about:

One of dad's strangest vehicles is his Messerschmidt, which is a three wheeler previously owned by the movie company Nordisk Film, used in the TV-series Øbberbøv . Here he is renovating it:

When dad bought it, it had no papers, so he got permission to register without. He is only the third in Denmark to do that.


The Messerschmidt is a little thing measuring only about 200 cm (6 feet) and only has 13 hp. Cockpits from F262 fighters excess from WWII are used, hence the name.

He is very charming.

Dad found it on dba.dk (Danish eBay). The man who sold it, had bought it from Nordisk Film, but thought it was to bad to renovate. Dad took it all apart and painted it. He went to Germany to buy spareparts and also had some things sent from UK. He has always wanted a Messerschmidt Tiger, and think that he some day might be able to trade this one for a Tiger:

The Tiger model is a four wheeler and has a larger engine.

It has room for two persons, sitting in a row, not beside each other. When my sister's twins are celebrating their birthday it is a big hit when grandpa drives all the kids in it.

The exhaustion looks like a watering can:

All the insides were gone, so dad has made some new.

It doesn't have a reverse gear, but it has two sets of platins for each cylinder, so when you need to back you press the key in, start the engine again and this way you turn the rotation of the engine and get a reverse gear. So in fact it has four reverse gears.

The nice front emblem:

The famous Danish actors Dirch Passer and Judy Gringer has also driven it in the movie Peter's Baby, so it is a little celebrity which has always lived in Denmark. Now it is enjoying its retirement at dad, and I don't think any vehicle can wish for a better retirement.

Christmas Nails

Oops, I had a little Christmas vacation from the blog, but I doubt anybody noticed. I've been thinking about my blog lately. I don't get many new readers neither comments. I don't know if I write too different topics, too boring, too predictable, or if you don't want to see my nails or my scannings of vintage ALT for Damerne. I love Instagram, it is quick and easy to update and follow, and I've got a lot followers. But until now I've decided to keep my blog, so here are my Christmas nails for December:

But let's start with my Marilyn Monroe nails, stamped with my new MoYou plates:

The nude polish is from Oriflame. I've added a little gold glitter, because nude is too boring for me.

My birthday nails, stamped with Bundle Monster Holiday Collection upon Ciaté Spending Spree, my favourite duochrome polish:

My first Christmas nails:

A gradient with red and green glitter upon Sally Hansen's Bleech Babe.

Here I have stamped holly leaves upon a cheap gold polish from the super market and added small red rhinestones as berries:

I really loved this manicure and got over 20 likes at Instagram, which has never happened before.

All three polishes are from ColorClub, my favourite polish brand.

And the last Christmas manicure, Rudolph stamped with Bundle Monster Holiday Collection upon a cheap gold polish from the super market and red rhinestones as his nose:

I was SO surprised and HAPPY! I got this completely luxurious beauty box from Estee Lauder full of lovely makeup. I must have been very nice this year.

Giving and Receiving

I love getting gifts! Yep, I am still that childish, but I think I love giving gifts even more. Since 1981 I've made a Christmas calendar for my parents. This year it was glittery green with red bows, so nice. They love it very much:

Dad has taken the photo with his iPad, because as usual I forgot to take one myself.

Son has got Advent gifts since he was 11 (now he is 21), here they hang from the curtain rod:

He visits us every Sunday, so I can see him open his gift. I also suspect he would open all four, if I gave him the gifts to take with him home.

Dear Husband (DH) also gets Advent gifts, and this year I also have bought a licorice calendar from Bülows:

So he does not complain.

And I found this fabulous Christmas Calendar at Etsy for my sister:

Tanja Braun (in Germany) makes charm bracelets as Christmas calendar. The first day she got the bracelet, and then she each day take a little golden bag from the big brown bag, and find a charm in it. There are many different themes and you can also write to Tanja and ask for special charms. Sister is very happy, so I will not disclose more here, but you can take a look at the link.

I rarely get neither Christmas calendar nor Advent calendar, but this year I was lucky, because look what DH gave me for my birthday:

Hello Autumn

Goodbye summer. Although it was really good, it is never long enough.Well, hello to autumn. One of my favourite seasons. It is incredible beautiful, and I can decorate, which I love! Last year I showed you my little collection of autumn decorations. It has been extended a bit since.

Wooden candle sticks with Edelweiss flowers, bought in Austria during our summer vacation:

This year I have bought a lot of ornamental gourds for both inside and outside use:

DH could not resist his funny face. The pillow cases with autumn leaves are bought at Ellos a few years ago.

I have also bought a vine of artificial autumn leaves in Austria:

Here I have twisted it around the cord of my lamp.

And I have crocheted acorns:

So nice and cozy. I will make some golden ones for December gifts.

And this lovely autumn table cloth is also bought in Austria during our summer vacation:

DH could not resist this nice rusty basket which now decorates our lovely new main stairs:

It is really great because I can decorate it differently all year round.

And a few days ago we got a huge pile of firewood:

Which our dear son helped stacking, so now we are ready for both autumn and winter.

Son's Car

Happiness is having a mechanic dad - son has already got his second car. Perhaps you remember he got a white VW Polo when he got 18. It was later exchanged to another old Polo which is in better condition and have a better engine. It is now renovated with help from his skilled dad and parts from dba.dk (Danish eBay), you aren't rich when you are an apprentice. The result is really good and had to be celebrated with a photo session, where I got the honour of being the photographer. When we got home, son's good friend, Thore, who is a talented graphic artist, edited all the photos. Here are the results:

We drove to Refshaleoen at the Isle of Amager, where there were some lovely old and decayed buildings, perfect background:

Son has painted the brake drums bold green as a contrast to all the black:

We sneaked into the great hall of B&W (the one where the huge International Song Contest just has been held) and took some photos:

When we were almost done, we by incident found this great graffiti wall and had to shoot a few more photos:

When we were done I demanded an ice cream as my humble wage, since it was damn hot crawling on the asphalt in the burning sun. But it was a very cosy day with the boys, which I will remember for long.

My room

I've got my own room. I wanted so for years, so I am extremely happy. When I lived with my parents I got my own room when I was fifteen, and then I moved together with DH when I was 18. And when we moved in our house almost 20 years ago, I was the only one who didn't get my own room. So when son moved September last year, I wanted his room. On 1 March this year I was lucky to get a new part time job at my company, and then I thought it was time to renovate it:

Pillows with vintage books.

We kept son's wall which I painted for him several years ago. The walls were painted white and the floor was sandpapered. Here I sit in front of the window and draw, paint and play with pearls:

I have inherited the desk from my mother in law, it is almost new. The bookshelf is from Ikea.

The Eiffel tower lamp is a birthday gift, the candle holder in the window is made by my beloved grandpa, and I am working on some pearl projects:

A little boy I once knew:

In the attic I have one of son's room dividers with boxes from Ikea. The boxes contain my fabric (small and large pieces) and lots of yarn and buttons:

Op top of it is my old record player and at the left I have a few records to play while I work on my projects.

Besides the records are four glasses with lots of buttons, size sorted:

Opposite the desk is son's old desk, which is now my sewing table. The beautiful purple goldsmith-dragon made of hand painted silk is a birthday gift from my brother:

My old sewing machine, which my dad thrifted and repaired for me:

Real seventies orange. And there is a pile of things I have to sew/repair.

My mother in law's crystal, which I don't know what to do with, so now it decorates my room:

But what do I have in my bookshelf, you ask? Here is a shelf with all my Marilyn Monroe books:

Let's end by looking closely at son's wall which he designed six years ago, and I painted for him:

He was very nervous if we would paint it over, but since I like the monochrome look too, I wanted to keep it.

So here I sit and work on creative projects while I listen to vintage records every Wednesday, and I LOVE it! :)
