Late Summer Nails

Yes, I know - autumn is almost over now, but here are my late summer manicures and also a few from the early autumn. I always collect mani photos to make a post with several different.

The first mani is quite nice, and it is just some super cheap (and rubbish) flower stickers from a Chinese shop on top of L'Oreal's Shocking Pink polish:
I don't think it is that shocking. The flower stickers broke the day after, but it looked nice at the party it was made for.

This is a quick mani I made for a girl friend - Ciaté's lovely duo chrome Spending Spree with dots of OPI's DS Extravangance:
I love that combination.

I went to the annual Opel GT car meeting in August and forgot my camera both day - yes, I am very proud of myself - so no photos, but here is my mani:
Some of the ladies in the club have found nail polish in the same colour as the car, so I had too. It is from Max Factor named Wine Red. I don't know if you can still buy it, since it is some years ago I bought it. On top of it I've made stribes of Sally Hansen's charcoal grey glitter polish, which I found in the USA.

And here is a super cheap magnetic polish, I have made stars in, which is hard to see - but the colour is nice:
To make the mani a little more interesting, I added blue glitter.

Here is a neon green discount polish. I think I should have used a white base, then it would have popped more, but I do like the colour as it is. It is stamped with my new PUEEN plates:
I love that they have so many different patterns. On top of it all a green glitter polish.

This colour from Sally Hansen Scarab was so beautiful it had to stand on its own. I only added some glitter from Sinful Colours Nail Junkie at my ring finger:
It is a blueish-green duo chrome polish, but I think you have to look hard to find the duo chrome effect. But anyway, it is a beauty.

Here is the only nude colour I own, and which I like - Deborah Lippmann Careless Whisper:
Also stamped with my new PUEEN plates and French tips. It looked very nice in real life, but I don't think it does in the photo. :( And now it is again hopeless to take decent nail polish photos, sigh!

New Shoes

But doesn't she buy shoes anymore? Oh yes, I do, but I have really tried to behave since I bought 12 pairs of shoes a few years ago! I don't exactly have a rule like "one pair in, one pair out" but later the same year I sorted out 12 pairs. This year I have sorted out 15 pairs and haven't bought any new pairs until now! We attended the annual Opel GT club meeting (no photos because I forgot my camera both day, yes, I am very proud of myself!), where we went to the City of Roskilde and went for a walk in the main street. There was an outlet shop I had to visit. First I found these lovely flip-flops:
They stood there on the shelf and glittered in the most insinuating way. They are so nice and great for garden parties and other places where high heels are not the best choice.

I also found these pink flats with black rhinestone hearts at the toes:
They were reduced from approx. 215 dollars to 54 dollars, so I simply had to add them to my small collection of flats.

Further down the street there was a Bianco shop with a rack with shoes reduced by 70%, so I had to try these on:

I thought they were a bit too high for my broken ankle, but they only cost approx. 21 dollars, so I bought them anyway - look at those golden toes:
They are fabulous!

Well, DH found a pair of boots which he thought was so nice, but I could not press my instep into the right one, very strange. But the nice saleswoman called a shop in my neighbouring city and had a pair put aside for me. I went there a few days after and they fit:
Look how nice they are with golden zipper and gold on the heel.

But this shop had made a wall with shoes for 17 dollars! It is plain mean, if you ask me! I simply had to take a closer look and found these black slingbacks with cut out holes:
Black shoes are an evergreen, and these are a little more exciting due to the cut holes and the golden strap.

Many years ago I had a pair of pastel green high heels and I have missed them ever since, so when I found this mint green pair, I was not in doubt:
They only had size 6.5, but with a sole in they fit. I have already planned lots of outfits with them. :)

New Plates

No, not for the record player, but for my nails. I follow Sophies blog, and when she showed nails stamped with PUEEN plates, I thought they were so nice and different that I had to own them too. I found them super cheap at Amazon. But look at them:
You can enlarge the photo by clicking at it.

What I like about these plates are most of them are full nail size patterns, which I call "wallpapers". And they really do cover the nail completely. I highly recommend them.

My Nail Polish Collection

I have shown you the lovely drawer DH gave me for my nail polish collection a few years ago, but I have never shown you the content of the drawers.

In the first drawer I have top and base coats, stamping plates and stamping tools, manicure tools, rhinestones, tape, pearls, stickers, and my beloved test plates:
They are simply brilliant, both for keeping my polishes in system and to get inspired by.

In the second drawer I have all my red and pink polishes - and various gift boxes with minis:
Red and pinks are those I have less of, perhaps because I have used them all my life, so now they are not that exciting any more.

In drawer number three I have (from left) a row of black, grey, and white. Then full rows of purple, blue, and green polishes:
All my polishes are nicely sorted in rows from colour shade. This way I can easily find the one I need.

In drawer number four I have lots of glitter polishes:
I ADORE glitter and really try not to buy more, but it is hard, because new combinations keep popping up that I NEED to have in my collection. At the upper left corner is my small collection of magnetical polishes and at the upper right corner is a glow-in-the-dark and two crack polishes from OPI.

I have just tidied up the bottom drawer, which a.o. contains a lot of art pens, which I have sorted out and given a lot of to my small girlfriends. If the colours are too close to each other, some of them have to go. And I don't use them that often. Normally, I just use a thin brush and ordinary polish. Here is also a small stock of top coats, quick drying drops, thinner, and empty bottles (which is always nice to have, since you never know when you come up with a brilliant idea for a Franken):

So as you see it is almost filled up. I have approximately 200 different colours, so I have made a rule that I may only buy colours that does not look like any others I already own, and it is quite difficult.

Vintage Cars from the TV Series "Matador"

In Denmark we are all great fans of a TV series from the early eighties called "Matador", which equals to "Monopoly", the board game. The actions takes place right before and during WWII, so I also enjoy the vintage cars and have wondered what had become of them. When visiting the annual Whitsun car exhibition I got the answer, because they had collected the cars from all over Denmark and made a real "Matador" feeling. This is "The Ladies Department Store", where it all began:
Matador

On the other side of the street, the main character, Mads Skjern, started his shop with clothes for the lower and middle class:
Matador

The local bank was also represented:
Matador

Later in the series Mr. Skjern got very successful and opened "Skjerns Department Store":
Matador

Well, on to the cars. Here we have the Mistress' car, and Austin Seven from either 1932 or 1935 (according to my dad, who is a real car nerd):
Matador

And here is Oluf Larsen's, aka Pig Dealer Larsen, Chrysler from 1930:
Matador

This is Mr. Skjern's brother's car, a Ford Model 18 from 1932:
Matador
Still a very nice car.

And here is Mads Skjern's Morris 10 Six from 1934:
Matador
It is also still a nice car.

This is not:
Matador
It is Ford Junior de Luxe from 1937, an "extra".

There is not that much "De Luxe" here any longer:
Matador

This is Colonel Hachel's Fiat 501 from 1924:
Matador

And lastly - another extra, a Chevrolet from 1924:
Matador

It was such a good and cosy idea.
