New Versus Old

I collect clear lucite shoes from the fifties. Yep, I am crazy. You can see my collection here.

I have wanted this pair from Miss L Fire for long:

They are made exactly like the old ones, but since they are new, they are not brittle and fragile, so I can in fact use them daily. But they were very expensive, about 180 dollars, which is a bit over my budget. But suddenly I was lucky to get a discount code to WhatKatieDid, a British site, so no customs and VAT trouble there. I hurried in and ordered, and the shoes are even more lovely in real life than in the photos.

Let's compare new versus old lucite:

The old ones yellow over the years and therefore the new ones are very clear compared to the old ones:

I really think Miss L Fire has done a great job. And I already look forward to packing them in my holiday suitcase, because now I only need to pack one pair of high heels since they literally match everything. :)

What I've Been Up to Lately

I sit down with the intention of blogging, and think about what have happened lately. Quite a lot, although I sometimes think my life is boring. We went on a prolonged weekend to Flensburg in Germany. We were intensive together and we went shopping. That is, DH shopped. ;) I'm not a big shopper, but I did buy three nail polishes, two pairs of shoes and some new clothes.

Here are two duo chrome polishes (my favourite type of nail polish) and a fantastisk dark green shimmer polish:

The dark green polish is my new favourite green, and believe me - I have many green polishes.

Orsay is a great and inexpensive German clothing brand, so when I saw one of their shops I had to go in and look around. I found this lovely blouse with heart-shaped holes in:

And a pair of socalled trekkings that reminds me much of skiing pants from the fifties:

I would have sworn that I would ever put on leggins again, but I can promise you that I will not wear them at work.

And the two pairs of shoes from Deichmann:

DH found the black and white pair of pumps, which are very fifties. A little later I found the black and white flats. I think it is funny I came home with two almost identical pairs without having planned to.

And we have worked on renovating son's old room, so I can get it as my creative room. Here is a little sneak peek:

I have borrowed the small round loud spearkers and the amplifier of son. But it is SO nice that it deserves its own blogpost.

I still knit, and I am pretty good, if I must say so:

A few years ago I challenged myself to learn to knit, and I am definately getting better. It is just a bonus that it also helps me to relax and unstress.

And I am the most embarrassing human being - DH has given me a work out machine from TV Shop:

We think it is fun to watch TV Shop in the weekend mornings, where we have time to sit and laugh of their silly ads. But DH thought this machine was really good, so he gave it to me. So now I just have to get started - this is how it is meant to be used:

You place your knees in the paddings below, hold the handgrips and pull yourself up. Very simple, but very effective. I almost fainted after the first 10, sigh. Better get started soonest.

And I've bought more vintage magazines:

Yep, 1956 is extended. And soon I will receive a lot from 1963, my own birth year. It will be fun to see what the ladies read about in the same year I was born.

In addition to that I've started working parttime, I have a day off on Wednesdays, and I LOVE it! And we are preparing DH's motorcycle and Tiny Honk for spring. I'm trying to find new leather seats, but it is not easy to find for a car that is nearly 50 years old. And we have sold and cleared my MIL's apartment, where I think I might show you some goodies from later on.

New Shoes

But doesn't she buy shoes anymore? Oh yes, I do, but I have really tried to behave since I bought 12 pairs of shoes a few years ago! I don't exactly have a rule like "one pair in, one pair out" but later the same year I sorted out 12 pairs. This year I have sorted out 15 pairs and haven't bought any new pairs until now! We attended the annual Opel GT club meeting (no photos because I forgot my camera both day, yes, I am very proud of myself!), where we went to the City of Roskilde and went for a walk in the main street. There was an outlet shop I had to visit. First I found these lovely flip-flops:

They stood there on the shelf and glittered in the most insinuating way. They are so nice and great for garden parties and other places where high heels are not the best choice.

I also found these pink flats with black rhinestone hearts at the toes:

They were reduced from approx. 215 dollars to 54 dollars, so I simply had to add them to my small collection of flats.

Further down the street there was a Bianco shop with a rack with shoes reduced by 70%, so I had to try these on:

I thought they were a bit too high for my broken ankle, but they only cost approx. 21 dollars, so I bought them anyway - look at those golden toes:

They are fabulous!

Well, DH found a pair of boots which he thought was so nice, but I could not press my instep into the right one, very strange. But the nice saleswoman called a shop in my neighbouring city and had a pair put aside for me. I went there a few days after and they fit:

Look how nice they are with golden zipper and gold on the heel.

But this shop had made a wall with shoes for 17 dollars! It is plain mean, if you ask me! I simply had to take a closer look and found these black slingbacks with cut out holes:

Black shoes are an evergreen, and these are a little more exciting due to the cut holes and the golden strap.

Many years ago I had a pair of pastel green high heels and I have missed them ever since, so when I found this mint green pair, I was not in doubt:

They only had size 6.5, but with a sole in they fit. I have already planned lots of outfits with them. :)

Great Gifts

About two weeks ago it was my birthday and it was a great day - even the gifts were great. I got everything I wanted although only two of the gifts were on my wish list. My family knows me well since they give such great gifts. If I want to share the gifts with you? Of course I do.

DH gave me a drawer for my nail polish collection:
My brother sent me a text asking "if a drawer was a little overkill for nail polish?", "Not if you have many!" I answered back. Many nail polish addicts in blogland have a Helmer drawer from Ikea, but DH didn't like it, and I don't complain. This one was the last one in the shop so he bargained the price and also bought me an Advent calendar:

I just LOVE Advent calendars and he knows it.

Son gave me this completely overwhelming gift:

The most beautiful glass ornaments bought at a museum for a fortune. A rhinoceros, a polar bear and a bee. I was truly touched. So now a rhinoceros will hang on my Christmas tree.

My parents gave me only reuse gift which they had found at different flea markets, and it was the best gifts ever. A.o. this fabulous pair of shoes:
And they fit perfectly.

My best friend, Jesper and his sweet fiancee, gave me this picture of Marilyn, which I - youwon'tbelieveit - don't think I've ever seen before:
Now I just have to find a nice place to hang it.

Vacation with Tiny Honk

Have you all had a nice vacation?

We have! And we were quite lucky with the weather. In week 27, DH and I drove out in the blue in my vintage car - an Opel GT that turned 40 this year. We did not have many plans except for going to the City of Toender in Southern Jutland, because we thought the city is so nice and the area so beautiful. And I also wanted to go to Lübeck in Germany.

On our way we had to change spark plugs, which we found very cheap at a local shop:

In the City of Toender we accidentially ran into a vintage car meeting. We were eating our dinner when suddenly a lot of lovely vintage cars came and lined up:

So we were asked to park my little car among all the others:

We visited the Mill of Hoejer which is beautifully restored and for about 5 dollars we could also visit a nice museum and a beautiful old garden:

We also visited the famous floodgates - here I am with the flat and beautiful landscape in the background:

We drove to the City of Moegeltoender where our Prince and his lovely wife lives, but since they were not at home, we had to buy our afternoon tea and perhaps the biggest apple cake in the world at "granny's café":

There was so lovely and she was also an artist, you could buy trays and shrines painted by her. This sign is very charming:

This is a three-dimensional city map of the City of Lübeck. It is very elaborate and even has the street names and landmarks written in Braille:

The day after we drove to Timmendorfer Beach (also in Germany). I want a beach chair like these, they are simply too charming:

You could also buy ice creams the old-fashioned way:

And you could buy SHOES! Ooops, I bought TEN pairs in total:

They were all so cheap that I could not afford to let them go. From left to right: three flat pairs at 8 dollars each, two pairs with a French heel (which I can use now!) at respectively 8 dollars and 19 dollars (my most expensive pair), a pair of classic black stiletto at 9 dollars, a pair with kitten heels at 18 dollars, a pair of pink patent leather pinup heels at 18 dollars, a red and white pair at 9 dollars, and a pair of very early sixties black slingbacks at 9 dollars. So now I cannot even convince myself that I need more shoes! :)

The Bare Necessities

I've just come home from a lovely trip to the Copenhagen with my mum, my sister and my gorgeous little niece (aged four). And I did it again - bought a pair of wonderful and absolutely necessary shoes:
