Luxury?

What is luxury? To me it is time and silence, both are things I don't have much, and I truly enjoy having time for my projects or to just sit and read a good book. Last summer I almost bought another vintage car, but DH became seriously mad at me. Well, I have always wanted a library with a vintage armchair, a footstool, a nice vintage floor lamp, and a small table with space for a cup of tea and a book. So Princess sour as I was, I demanded an armchair. DH is not as much in love with vintage things as I am, so I ended up with an Ikea solution and it is also very nice:
And the footstool matches the chair, you say. I'm so glad you noticed. :) I ordered fabric like the chair and have sewn the upholstery myself with skirt and shanks and everything. I am very proud of myself. I also managed to make a pillow case and applications for a blanket out of the fabric:So now it is officially the new favourite spot of the house, approved by DH and my very choosy teenage boy with an unsual demanding taste.

What I read? A Marilyn book of course: MM Personal.

Forgotten Jools

I have a few jools which I don’t think anybody knows what are used for. And it is a pity because I think they are really practical. Do you know what these are used for:
No? The first one is a “glove-holder”, and then you might think “what on earth am I going to use a glove-holder for?”. You fasten it to the handle of your purse with the chain and then the clips (the jool) can be opened to hold your gloves, so you don’t loose or forget them. But you can also use it to fasten other things, for example if you carry a pashmina shawl with you, in case of cool nights or exaggerated use of AC.

The other jool is a “sweater clips” and I simply don’t understand why these are not made any longer, because they are such a brilliant idea! I have a small collection of nice sweater clips, because they are so practical when you wear a cardigan or a shawl over your shoulders and are tired of it falling down.

With a little luck both can be found on eBay or Etsy.

US Nail Polish

I went to the US with high expectations about shopping a LOT of nail polishes, because I had heard a about polishes for only one dollar and about the most amazing colours. I was quite disappointed, but I bought a few bottles:
Note that I have bought a red polish! I think it matches my car.

I have made a rule about not buying polishes that look like something I already own, it has to be unique. I’m pretty good at keeping this promise. I stood and sighed over Sally Hansen’s “Gem Collection”, but they are almost alike OPI’s “Muppet Collection”, so besides the charcoal grey glitter polish, I didn’t buy any. Gooood girl!

In the Sawgrass Mills outlet center was a Konad booth! It was great to be able to take down the plates from the holders, see them in real instead of just choosing on the internet. I “only” bought five plates and two special polishes:
And since my nails were already stamped I got a great discount.

And Carli had a polish-sale on her blog, so four bottles ended in the “basket”:
The small holo-topcoat and the plate is a gift.

Now I cannot even convince myself that I need more glitter polishes.

Easter Fun

My sister and I are very lucky to have summer cottages right beside each other, so we visit each other all day long. I am drinking latte at my sister's house and ask my little niece, she's six, if she has sent any Easter letters (in Denmark we send cut-out Easter letters often with a snowdrop, the receiver being asked to guess who the sender is, and if not, the receiver owes the sender an Easter egg). I quickly adds that she must not say to whom. She nods and smiles. "Have they guessed them?" I ask. And she turns and asks: "No, you haven't guessed it yet, mummi?". My sister is shaking her head very energic and her mouth is very tight, so she doesn't laugh out loud. :)

I've made Easter nails, I tried to make a freehand daffodil:
Not that easy and in fact the right one is better (although I'm right handed), since I suppose I had figured out how fast the polish dries. The green polish is the brand new "Navigate Her" from Essie's spring collection, and it is the most perfect dusty pale green colour ever. If just Mrs. Essie would make the polish less thin and the brush bigger, then it would be fabulous.

Happy Easter to all of you.
